Your Expedition

Today will be good...

Your boot settles into a lush carpet of creekside wildflowers as you lower yourself from the saddle. Gripping your fly rod tightly with anticipation, you approach the perfect casting point, now only yards away. You can see the hungry trout, as they feed on Caddis, where the riffles begin to froth.

Your first cast lands on top of a thick bodied Westslope Cutthroat. The fly disappears at the first roll of the fish and the fight is on. The power at your rod’s tip is incredible. You’ve dreamed of this for years...

Your stride slows, while your pulse quickens, eyeing the action in the blue hole ahead. you false cast three times, the presentation of the Parachute Adams was flawless, the drift superb. The wild rainbow erupts with a surface shattering rise as he immediately takes line. This is why you're here.

What to Expect on Your Wild Trout Expedition

The ranch staff and guides arise each morning at 6:00 a.m. We will meet you in the dining room at 7:00 a.m. and settle in for a hearty breakfast to start the day right. If you and your guide have planned a ride/wade trip with horses or a float, you might eat a little earlier. Your guide will discuss the next day’s plans with you the night before.

You and your guide will gather up your gear and stow it in a vehicle or pack it on the horses and mules and head out to any one of a variety of terrific destinations for the day. After arriving at your fishing location you will fish several hours, with a break for a hearty shore lunch, and then resume fishing into the afternoon.

We eat dinner at approximately 7:30 p.m. each evening. Your guide will let you know when it is time to leave the water and make tracks for the Ranch. You may provide your own evening wine or liquor to drink at dinner or at your cabin.

A creekside campfire follows dinner each evening, making for a nice conclusion to an exciting day. Tomorrow’s fishing plans are most often hammered out before dinner. Guides are finished guiding for the day when dinner is served, allowing for a little evening time for them to make preparation for tomorrow’s trip and an early departure.

We kindly ask that our fly-fishing guests ready their personal gear, to the fullest degree possible, after dinner each evening. This will allow you and your guide to get a timely start the next morning.

Every week long trip we offer includes:

  • Round trip transportation from Great Falls International Airport to Ford Creek Guest Ranch and back

  • One Professional Guide for each small group of anglers

  • 3 meals daily

  • Clean comfortable accommodations at the Ranch or tent camps

  • An extensive lineup of support equipment such as vehicles, drift boats, rafts, horses, mules, saddles, and camps

  • Rods, terminal tackle, all flies

Call Travis toll free at 1-888-463-5934 for additional information or reservations. We will hammer out the specific details on the phone together. All you need to do is arrive ready to battle large, wild trout!
